Our deciduous quart liners offer a pot of potential for you! 

We start our liners from our own softwood cuttings taken here at Evergreen Nursery in the summer months. We root the cuttings in one season and then pot them up into the quart the next spring. We grow the quart line on for the rest of that year and offer these pots of potential to you in fall of that year and the following spring. In our continuing efforts to increase efficiency we are experimenting with directly sticking many varieties directly in the quart container.   We hope this will produce as high a quality liner that you have come to expect, but at a lower price.

Our growing season is ideal for rooting and growing deciduous liners. Our cool growing season and relatively low humidity is perfect for rooting and growing cuttings. We have a high percentage of sunny days that rarely reach ninety degrees. We use less mist and need less disease control to grow plants with large tops and heavy root systems. Even though our plants may be pampered, our cold northern Wisconsin winters ensure the plants are as tough as can be.

What a money maker this product could be for you. Pot these liners in fall or spring and grow for one season and for most varieties you have a cost effective container to sell the following spring.   Or plant in your field in spring and have them ready for your landscape jobs the next season.

We start our #3 containers from our own growing stock. Depending on variety, we up-shift from rooted plugs or finished quart liners. We stage our potting so you never have season roll over on material. You will always have fresh stock coming due at numerous times throughout the year.

We are very confident about the plant material we grow and can see that our quality exceeds our competition’s every time. We grow what is hardy for our Wisconsin climate and that limits us on some popular varieties our customers want. This makes it even more important that our material is top quality and available for you when you need it. Our growing season is ideal for growing the highest quality stock. The cool sunny days and lower humidity are similar to a west coast climate. We see less summer stress on our containers and have a fresh look to them even in the heat of summer.  When your lilacs are done blooming ours are just starting, look at the extra income you can bring in with fresh stock arriving when you need it.

But we realize you have to make some bigger minimums with our larger competitors but even with their biggest discount, our plants a lower price, but better in quality. So in this tough economy, it may be a little more work for you to order from multiple vendors, but we can save you money….and every dollar you save helps the bottom line.
